This directory contains everything needed to use the Adobe Euro fonts with
LaTeX, excepted the fonts.

The Macintosh version of the Adobe Euro fonts can be found at:
  <ftp://ftp.adobe.com//pub/adobe/type/mac/all/eurofont.sea.hqx>

To use these fonts with dvips under Unix, you will need the corresponding .pfa
files. You can build them with the "unpost" tool of the t1utils package
found on CTAN in "CTAN/fonts/utilities/t1utils/". The license does not
allow me to redistribute these fonts.

The TFM and VF files of this package were build with afm2tfm and vptovf.

I wrote the FD files that allow NFSS to select the right font according to
the current font shape and series. They should be put in a directory where
TeX looks for input files.

The euro.map file tells dvips which PFA to download for each font. Place it
in a directory where dvips looks for files and simply add a "p+ euro.map"
line to your config.ps file to use these fonts.

The OzTeX directory contains config.euro and euro.map. You should add the
lines of config.euro to your Default OzTeX configuration file to be able to
view the Euro fonts on screen. euro.map maps the Euro fonts to the
Macintosh type 1 fonts that should be installed in your Fonts folder.
Using this map file, you do not need the PFA files since OzTeX knows how to
load LWFN files in its PostScript output.

The euro.sty package is very small: it contains only the definition of the
\texteuro command which fetches the Euro character from one of the Adobe
fonts. The only difficult part is choosing between Euro Serif, Euro Sans
and Euro Monospace according to the current font family. Since I found no
way to tell if the current family is roman, sans serif or typewriter, I
just compare the current family to \rmdefault and \sfdefault. If it is
\rmdefault, I use Euro Serif, if it is \sfdefault, I use Euro Sans, and if
it is none of the above, I assume \ttdefault and use Euro Monospace. If
someone knows a better way of making this choice, let me know.

I had to choose a name for each of these fonts:
 per means PostScript Euro Serif
perr is PostScript Euro Serif Regular
perb is PostScript Euro Serif Bold
peri is PostScript Euro Serif Italic
perbi is PostScript Euro Serif Bold Italic

 pes means PostScript Euro Sans
pesr is PostScript Euro Sans Regular
pesb is PostScript Euro Sans Bold
pesi is PostScript Euro Sans Italic
pesbi is PostScript Euro Sans Bold Italic

 pem means PostScript Euro Monospace
pemr is PostScript Euro Monospace Regular
pemb is PostScript Euro Monospace Bold
pemi is PostScript Euro Monospace Italic
pembi is PostScript Euro Monospace Bold Italic

If there is a problem with these names, let me know.
